This track is a commentary on where I think our society is as of now.
Eliot Alderson (Rami Malek) perfectly espouses about what I find wrong with social media, the problems associated with the United States government, the scapegoats we use to attempt to get away from our problems, the misguided sentimental value we place on material wealth, services and goods and the overall apathy that seems to permeate the world around us.
The outro touches upon ideas ranging from police brutality ('You're pushed to the ground...") to how we could peacefully negotiate ways to be without the perils which are burdening our world.
What is it about society that disappoints you so much?
Oh, I don't know.... Is it that we collectively thought Steve Jobs was a great man even though we knew he made billions off the backs of children? Maybe it's that it feels like all our heroes are counterfeit. The world itself is just one big hoax. Spamming each other with our burning commentary bullshit masquerading as insight. Our social media faking its intimacy...
Or is it that we voted for this; Not with our rigged elections, but with our things, our property, our money.
I'm not saying anything new, we all know why we do this. Not because Hunger Games books makes us happy, but because we want to be sedated, because it's painful not to pretend, because we're cowards...
Poly-rhythmatic with a big fat boom
You have an eargasm as you start to consume
The world as you knew it came cascading down
No hope left inside you, you're pushed to the ground
We will take the everlasting glory
Have our children tell a story
As we weave our thoughts upon the sky...
